piano sonatas

Timeless Mozart. It is sometimes difficult to categorize him. Is he not constantly eluding us? Yet, that does not mean distant; he can be close to us, something new every time we listen to him. In comparison, he is even close to the modern. Even the Basel composer Rudolf Kelterborn talks about an "underground avant-gardism". What he is talking about is music, which is often referred to as “natural, simple and classic”, it can be highly complex from time to time, not as much on the surface as “below, on the inside”. Small asymmetries are observed; elaborate obbligati, differentiated dynamics, bold motive and thematic changes. Thus, a line is drawn from Rudolf Kelterborn to Wolfgang Amadé Mozart and See Siang Wong plays along this line. In the foreground, the music comes off as transparent, seemingly effortless, a melodious variety as well as the occasional elegance of a fine perfume that is importunate. It is a music that is also of Apollonian purity, which is far from any romantic, rebellious artistry. There is not any excess, no roughness, and absolutely no extreme formulations. The richness is naturally presented without pretention of time. The music manages to create itself constantly again and again, developing smoothly, leggiero.
